Local and National Acts shared a diverse crowd in Wicker park.

As the first festival of the year, Do Division is tasked with setting the bar high for the summer festival season. A task it more than handled in 2014. Judging by all accounts this will be a great summer festival season.

Local Favorites,

The Island of Misfit Toys.

Enirornmental Encroachment performs at Do Division in Wicker Park.

During that time I was able to see four awesome and independently unique live acts, before taking the six block hike to the Blue Line station at Milwaukee and Damen. The live acts that I was able to see at the west stage really contributed to the atmosphere. Bands like The Island of Misfit Toys and The Weeks gave a younger, edgier crowd something to really jam and vibe to. The vibe with the early bands was really about you being exactly who you are and who you want to be and enjoying the hell out of it. while they held down the fort until the later acts which gave the older members of that demographic a little bit more substance and vibing material. Sunday was much of the same quite honestly. It was a great day.The national street band, Environmental Encroachment played a wonderful, family friendly set . It was nice to see a band really cater to the needs of a young family in the city of Chicago. I know the kids had a wonderful time and the adults appeared to be having a great time too. However, the Blackhawks were locked in game 7 with the Los Angeles Kings in the Western Conference Finals in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. WIth that happening at the "Mad House on Madison" less than a mile a way, it was hard to focus on the festivities and not Chicago's best sports franchise. Great acts, great food and great experience were had none the less. We will return to Wicker Park for the Wicker Park Music Festival in July!
