Slow magic at Do division

By: Eric Bonner

The Do Division Street Festival kicked off the festival season off for the wonderful city of Chicago on Friday May 30th. The event was both well planned and well executed and provided that sense of summer that city so desperately needed following one of the harshest and longest winters in the history of Chicago. With two stages at each end of the festival serivicng both local and national acts, a plethora of vendors serving gourmet foods , not so gourmet foods and those peddling their wares. With all of this coming together like a well oiled machine, Do Division did it right and got the rest of the city excited for what lies in store for the rest of the summer both city wide and in the Wicker Park neighborhood

The festivities kicked off for Do Division around midday on Saturday and lasted officially until 10 PM. Throughout those ten hours, the three blocks between Damen and Leavitt were essentially transformed into the first block party of the year for Chicago. I parked myself in front of the west stage, near Division and Leavitt, for the majority of the day.
