“ Hats off to them for coming through that at all , let alone unscathed , but it does little to prepare them for senior rugby . The approach to ‘ blooding ’ young players is an individual process as each player has different attributes .
“ Assessments of their abilities , physicality and skills sees them selected for the appropriate senior side with a view to working to a long term goal , which is largely determined by the player himself .
“ Retaining , replacing and recruiting players and promoting player pathways from the Age Grades are the biggest operational issues we are going to face , but getting funding in place to enable the club to realise its full potential will be the hardest task .
“ Our ambitions are
National League rugby for the 1st XV , Promotion for the 2nd XV and 3rd XV , the re-introduction of a 4th XV and the restoration of the heart of the club , with a clubhouse that serves the needs of a changing membership .”
“ I have been involved with the club since1978 and for twenty six years I have been Club Secretary . Over the years I have seen many changes not only to the game but to the club I love . Both my sons started as six year olds and went on to play first team rugby . My oldest son now coaches juniors and my grandson plays for the under 13s .
We have lots of plans for this year including an extension to the gym , a new garage and work shop , floodlights upgraded and we hope to clad the outside of our club house . What first attracted me to the club was the fact it was family friendly and over the years that hasn ’ t changed .
Our senior teams are mostly composed of players who have come through our minis and juniors and our junior teams go from strength to strength but none of this just happens . A lot of people ; coaches , managers , committee members and volunteers are all working hard to make Dinnington a success . We don ’ t always get it right but at least we try .”
