Being from Kelso there is a natural assumption that I am an expert on everything
rugby which speaks highly of the reputation of the Scottish borders. The club is
really thriving at all levels this season and there is a real buzz about the place. It’s a
great time to be associated with the club and I would like to wish everyone involved
with Blairgowrie RFC the very best of continued success.”

Alistair Russell is a sponsor of Blairgowrie RFC with his business
Balmoral Garage, a local Ford dealership, originally from Dundee
Alistair has lived in the area for the past 30 years. He told Rugby Club
magazine, "Quite a few years back myself and John Cunningham
of Cunningham Carpets had suggested to the club to organise a
Rugby Lunch for local companies. A pilot lunch commenced and
although a small affair at first, it took off into quite an exciting get
together and helped the club develop financially, other methods of
attracting funds for the club have also developed since then.
The club are enjoying a great season and in particular their
introduction of many young players combined with the existing older
heads is working very successfully for them. Recent successes in
the Midlands Bowl final, under difficult conditions, and a wonderful
display in the Bowl semi-final against Strathendrick, who seemed a
little shell shocked after the game, now see the club visit Murrayfield
and a another potential cup win.
The sheer determination and team spirit I witnessed in the recent
cup ties really says a lot about Blairgowrie Rugby Club and myself
and all the staff at Balmoral Garage wish Blairgowrie Rugby Club
best wishes in the final and in all future seasons!"
