The club is committed to helping their youngsters reach
their full potential and currently have one player involved in
the Scotland U18 set up, having started out with Blairgowrie
at the age of five. They also run an Over 35s side with
neighbouring town Dunkeld which is affectionately known as
the ‘Dunkeld Ospreys’.
Club Representative Duncan MacRae told us, “Being a
small provincial club we are hugely dependent on local players
who have progressed through our mini and midi system and
much of this season’s success has been largely down to the
fact that we have no less than seven eighteen year olds in our
senior squad.
“Huge credit must go to our Head Coach Craig Ormiston
and his fellow coaches Ally McLaren, Kev Brown, Cally
Gordon, Alan Robertson and Jake Cockburn who have all been
involved in the development of these young players – some
who I am sure will eventually go on to play at a higher level.”
There is clearly much to admire about the fine set up that
Blarigowrie RFC currently has in place and their success this
season is a just reward for all of the hard work that has gone
into making the club a success.
