Cheltenham
Tigers
Cheltenham is not a club to focus
solely upon their senior section however
and this is reflected by the fact that
they also have a number of youth sides
in place. These teams look to provide
young players from the local area with
an opportunity to play the game in a
safe and enjoyable environment whilst
helping them to reach their full potential.
It is important for any club looking
to be successful over a sustained period
of time to be able to produce their own
talent and this is an area they appear to
have covered. It will certainly be exciting
to see how their youngsters can progress
over the coming years.
This is a club that is committed to
playing an important role in their local
community and this was recognised
recently when they were recently
awarded a ‘Sports Community Club of
the Year’ award.
The award is given to a club which has
excelled in the delivery of sport to people
in the community in a safe, supportive
and quality environment. Cheltenham
Racecourse sponsors it with the function
being held at the Gold Cup suite with
over 200 people from Gloucestershire
attending.
In recent times the club has investing
heavily in improving their facilities
and is now able to boast a fantastic
clubhouse full of rugby memorabilia
and photos. They also restructured their
ground so that the pitch is now adjacent
to the clubhouse with the maximum
dimensions allowed.
The clubhouse hosts several sporting
teams every weekend and is well stocked
with a great selection of beers, lagers
and ciders. There is always a great
atmosphere and the club prides itself on
providing any visitors with a warm and
friendly welcome.
There is much to admire about the
fine set up that Cheltenham currently
has in place both on and off the field
and this is thanks to all of the hard work
that has gone into making it a success.
Hopefully they will be able to continue in
the same manner for many years to come
and every one at Rugby Club Magazine
would like to wish them the best of luck.
