“ I ’ ve been in my current role for three years and have to say it is very challenging . We have worked hard to update the club ’ s technology whilst retaining its traditional rugby ethos . The work we ’ ve done is paying dividends now with memberships on the up .
“ Our ambition is always to be ‘ the ’ community rugby club in the Thames . As well as lots of rugby we are also competing with rowing , hockey and football so what we ’ re offering has to be fresh and with that in mind we work hard to provide a high quality all round match day experience .
“ I ’ d like to think in five years ’ time that the club developments will be complete and that we will be settled side in Division 1 . Most of all I want us to continue be a traditional community Rugby Club with modern technology in place to help us to go from strength in strength .”
The club ’ s one club approach was particularly apparent when speaking to Director of Rugby Nigel Dudding who explained how the playing side linked in with the other aspects of running a club , saying , “ Henley rugby club has a proud tradition of community involvement with many ex Hawks players coaching into the mini and junior section .
“ We have always tried to grow our own to ensure the strong traditions of the club are maintained . Indeed all the coaching staff for the current team are ex Hawks players and passionate about all the developments at the club .
