haddesley Corbett RFC has been working hard during the summer to make sure that they are well prepared for a successful campaign this time around . We caught up with Club Representative James Swift to find out more about their plans for the new campaign .
Involvement
He told us , “ I have been involved with the club for eleven years now - I joined when I was eighteen - from Old Halesowenians where I had played rugby since I was eight years old . The attraction was that of the social side to Chaddesley , which is second to none ; we always get complemented on our hospitality and our welcoming atmosphere .”
The Role
“ In the last six years I have been social secretary only recently stepping down . I have also been the 1st Team captain for the last two consecutive years - where I have taken the club from having a squad of around 20 players to having a squad of around 35 .
I have recently stepped down from this role also to give the young blood of the club a chance at becoming a leader and developing themselves as players . I have also enrolled us with Worcester Warriors Community Partnership - where we can call upon them for training and days out - in return for attendance to their games and club promotion .”
Present
“ The atmosphere at the club at the moment is very good . Everyone has been working hard during pre-season , the spirit is great and we can ’ t wait for the coming season . This year the summer has been very good as a lot of members play cricket for Chaddesley also - this just reinforces the fact that we are a true village team . We are aiming that , with new blood and training techniques , we will finish in the top 3 of the league with the vision of promotion in the next 2 years .” www . sportip . biz 47
