Biggleswade FOLLOW US ONLINE TWITTER.COM/RUGBYCLUBMAG Biggleswade is a thriving club with a proud history of being a part of the local community. The Club feels that aspiring to be a Midlands 1 side again in the next five years is realistic and everyone is working very hard to achieve that ambition. Shane is keen that the Club should adopt the 15 man New Zealand style with every player able to employ all the rugby skills. Pre-season training has gone well as the senior squad works on ensuring that their structures are right as the base for a more expansive game. The Club is keen to play rugby at a higher level but it has to rely on its very strong Mini and Youth sections to channel players through to the senior sides. As the Biggleswade area has expanded in the last few years recruiting players who move into the district is a main part of the club reaching out into the community. Attendance at the local carnival, hosting school teams to use the facilities including a flood lit pitch, visiting schools to promote the game and an annual Santa Charity night are just a few of the activities which the Club does. It’s involvement in the community was recognised when it won a competition run by the RFU which included a trip to Twickenham as part of the prize. The Mini and Youth sections are very strong with a team in all age groups Images courtesy of Guy Willis 38 Issue 65
