Oxford
2nd XV will represent Oxford RFC before the end of Autumn .
The size of the task is not to be underestimated but the club is looking to grow from within , attract new and former players to the game and use the assets of Oxford and Oxford Brookes Universities to their fullest .
Oxford R . F . C . is a community club and has thriving Mini and Junior sections with boys and girls playing at every age group from 6 to 16 . The present U15 ’ s and U16 ’ s are hugely impressive and contain many county players .
The club recognises they are its future and the appointment of a Transition Manager is seen as a very important move . The players will be given specialist mid-week coaching by the highly experienced senior coaching staff as a means of bridging the gap between Colts and Senior rugby .
Oxford is a special city to grow a rugby club . In the minds of the public the Oxford verses Cambridge Varsity
Match is synonymous with the city . Indeed many scholars have played for the club and are made welcome as are
the many foreign language students who make their short term home in Oxford . The club operates a scholarship scheme paid for by our sponsors for all full time students by giving them free rugby .
The club is well placed to cater for any number of new players . It has a fully floodlit 1st XV pitch and a further 2 pitches which have training lights . There is a purpose built gym which is also used by the Oxford Power lifting club and their International standard lifters . All members of the club including free student scholarships are able to use the gym free from 5:30 pm .
The motto for the club this season as it looks to grow from within is ‘ Back to Rugby : Give it a TRY ’. It sums up the attitude of the club which is open to all new and returning players . They are guaranteed to be greeted , coached , given a game and made very welcome at post match festivities .
