Vipers happy with it , it meant far more to me than i had realised . I have loved every minute of being captain this season even when it was hard and we couldn ’ t buy a win it was brilliant . Everybody has worked hard . We started the season with such high hopes , it didn ’ t go the way we wanted it to . We struggled more than we ’ d care to admit , but in the end to avoid that relegation was such a demon to slay for me personally .
“ I love so many things about the club but most of all its the people here . Everyone in that club is more than happy to go the extra mile for everyone else . When I broke my arm I had to move house three weeks later . It meant that my
Mrs was going to basically have to do the lot on her own , so I put something on the club group and I was overwhelmed with offers of help .
“ Jock turned up with two vans and two labourers . Crabby spent the whole day helping out , Mick turned up after work with a van and helped put everything back together in my new house . In the end I said to some people actually no its alright we ’ ve done it all .
“ I also love taking my lad down to play for the U7 ’ s ; seeing him running round with the ball having fun is fantastic .”
Club Coaching Coordinator Tony Percival also took the time to speak with us , saying , “ This is a role I volunteered for
2 years ago for various reasons , mainly because I have been with the Vipers since I was a 12 year old and felt it was my time to give something back to the club .
“ I have played all through the Vipers age groups into senior rugby where I finally found my love for the Vipers & Rugby . To me the Vipers and rugby in general has been a lifelong marriage made in heaven . I ’ ve played with and against some amazingly gifted players and also some not so gifted but that didn ’ t matter as we are all part of the Vipers family . Once you pull on that Vipers shirt you are part of the family .
