Garry Mills from club sponsor Mill Tackle Ltd recently
spoke to Rugby Club Magazine about his positive
association with Redditch RFC. He told us, “My brother
Roy played hooker for Redditch and was captain of
both the 1st and 3rd team squad when he dragged me
along in 1983 as a fresh 21 year old.
My son James has followed in his dads footsteps as the
first XVs scrum half, having come through the clubs
junior ranks and my five year old grandson Oscar is
definitely destined to be a rugby player too. One of the
highlights of my life has to be the wonderful experience
of playing touch rugby at Twickenham last year!
Now 35 years later I still play scrum half whilst coaching
our ladies touch rugby side, `The Queenfishers’. We
are a very family oriented club and I suppose my
own family is an example of that. My wife Judith and
daughter Sarah play for the Queenfishers, which is our
six a side touch rugby O2 setup.
Redditch RFC is a bloody good club with excellent links
with our Cricket ,Hockey and squash teams and myself
and my family are privileged to be part of it all and
to witness a wonderful club celebrating 50 years of
Rugby!”
