Shooters Hill “Shooters Hill RFC run ‘Little Shoots’ which involves games and exercises involving a rugby ball for boys and girls aged from 2 – 7 years old.” The emphasis is on fun and the sessions attract a large number of local children of varying age and ability, all of who enjoy the relaxed atmosphere and games devised by the coaches. These include an obstacle course, dodge the tickle monster, kicking practice, cowboys and Indians and games of tag rugby. If you are interested in bringing your child along, please phone Alex Lewis on 07931 548 073. Mayday Gardens The club has some fine facilities which allows them to offer the best experience possible to players and members alike. They made the move to their current home after their previous base at Footscray Road fell into disrepair in the early 1990’s. It therefore became essential to have their own ground and thanks in large to the efforts of Dennis Frampton they were able to acquire Mayday Gardens on a long lease in 1992. Since then they have made significant improvements to the pavilion and have made social membership an important part of what they do. Club Hire They are now able to make the Club Hall available to hire for members and the public. Fully paid up members can hire it for free and non-members would be looking at a reasonable price of between £50 and £100. The hall contains a fully licensed bar and has a capacity of 150 people. It can be used for a variety of events including Birthday Parties, Anniversaries and Weddings and has the potential to provide the club with a valuable source of additional revenue. Although Shooters Hill RFC has not enjoyed the season that they would have liked so far this time around this should not take away from the good work being done at the club. Rugby Club Magazine wishes them the best of luck for the future. www.sportip.biz 71
