C
arnoustie Rugby Club does
a fantastic job of balancing
playing a vital role in the
local community with success on the
field. We recently caught up with Club
President Kath Edmond to find out how
they have been getting long lately.
She told us, “I came into the club
back when my son Stewart was seven
after he tried football but didn’t like it. I
worked beside one of the FP players and
he suggested I take him to mini rugby
training and I have been with the club
since then.
“Stewart still plays 1st XV Rugby and
also coaches the Micros/Mini’s where his
son plays. While with the youth section
I was involved with the committee for
many years, organising three overseas
tours for the players; two to France and
one to Canada. These were a great success
and let the youngsters form some great
friendships which I know some are still
on-going.
“There are lots of challenges and
rewarding aspects with Carnoustie which
is a small community club.

when we were going through a tough
time with a lack of players and support.
We got through that and things have
continued to build nicely on and off the
