I must also mention that there have been a few significant new recruits to the senior team who have put in some delightful performances this season and contributed greatly to the team effort “Youth and Junior teams have always been of great importance to this club and we are indeed fortunate to members who are prepared to give up their time. We have a dedicated coaching staff of ex-players who take care of our Youth side and Sunday mornings is the time, come rain or shine that the junior section have their playing time. “Youth rugby continues to play a vital role in Clubs such as ours and that is Emyr CROSS TYRES & AUTO Griffiths has had a longheassociation with in, Pontyberem RFC, the business is now involved RMD Engineering Wales Ltd ,are a club sponsor and he recently told Rugby Club Magazine, “I used to be on the clubs committee but family life took over and I had to step back. He recently told Rugby Club Magazine, “I played in the position of full back for the club from the age of 19 to 36 when I then felt I was too old to continue. After my playing days ended I coached for a while before becoming Chairman for ten years and subsequently club president 3 seasons ago. This season many of our past players have returned to the club and as a very family orientated club we hope this continues and view our position as a village club and one that will continue to attract past players. Towards the end of the season we were seeing around 300 fans per game which for a club of our size is quite remarkable. Our youth and junior players have always attracted interest from bigger clubs and in a recent higher level match 8 or 9 of our previous youth players were on show. Our club structure is second to none and has an atmosphere which is difficult to beat so I envisage many happy days ahead for Pontyberem Rugby Club.” 68 Issue 55
