We also have one of our ex-players (Ed Slater of Leicester Tigers: an MK junior) on the verge of his first full England Cap (he has played for England v Barbarians and also captained the mid-week touring side in NZ last year which were both non cap games). The senior’s rugby here was not good last year and we had a poor season, so the future is one of ‘rebuild’ with a new coaching team and new energy. All in all, the outlook is very good.” The Summer “We have an active Touch programme here with 140+ young people in a league structure. We start preseason fitness in July and then full training later in July. The summer also heralds our large Sevens event, the MK7s. A huge festival of rugby with 44 teams: Elite, Senior, Social and Women’s. People come from far and wide for the event and it is now on the Sevens Map. We also throw a festival (food, music, a few drinks) at the same time, so a real crowd always attends. We have some French sides coming over this year, so one might say we have gone ‘International’ too.
