Taking on the role has been very challenging but very rewarding at the same time and I thoroughly enjoy it.” Atmosphere “The mood at the club at the moment is very good at present. We haven’t been successful in gaining promotion but we’ve played some good rugby and both our 1sts and 2nds are going well. That should give us a good platform to build on and hopefully we can use this season as a bit of a springboard. We’ve finished well so are confident of pushing on and are looking forward to next season already.” Youth “Youth rugby is very important to the club. One of the best things we ever did was forming the minis and juniors six or seven seasons ago which led to the formation of a youth team. We were able to start the youth team ahead of schedule because the demand was there. We’ve started to see a few lads come Nick Heggarty is a Director of HD Ltd, who are involved in the National Wales Tennis Academy project. He recently told Rugby Club Magazine about his positive association with Bridgend Sports Rugby Club, saying “I was born and bred in Bridgend and played on and off for the rugby club from the age of 26 for around four seasons. My main position was 2nd row. I remember vividly the day I stopped, November 30th, as it was not only my birthday but the day I scored my only try for the club, it was a good try, I ran 30 yards and delivered a handoff before scoring. I am also a tennis player and the tennis club and rugby club are at the same facility. The rugby club is a great community contributor that provides the best service to our local people. The club coaches are of a very high standard, many of them having come through the club themselves. It’s wonderful to hear the club are doing so well this season and I would like to wish everyone associated with Bridgend Sports Rugby Club continued success well into the future.” ISLAND FARM INSTITUTE OF SPORT, BRIDGEND, WALES ‘A Sporting Opportunity for Bridgend’ PJ LEE ARCHITECT | www.pjl-a.com HD Ltd 8 Merthyr Mawr Road, Bridgend, Wales CF31 3NH Tel.
