BUCKINGHAM and being a great opportunity to exercise and socialise I think women find it harder to juggle time to fit in Rugby on a Sunday. Although many of the girls are Buckingham through and through it is often hard to hit the balance between the girls who want to play for fun and those of us who are super competitive- unlike the men a lot of girls aren’t quite so worried about getting a W on the score sheet they just like the chance a to get run about (this 100% does not apply to me!)” Atmosphere “The atmosphere here is good, we are a very social club and we are a lot like a family, we have picked up quite a few new players over the summer as well as a new coach and although we are still clicking together on the pitch the standard of rugby is high and everyone is very positive, even when the games aren’t going our way!” Off Season “It was quite quiet this season although we did some good recruiting, one of the players is a fitness instructor so we used her skills to run free fitness in the park sessions, they were mostly insanity fitness based but it was a brilliant opportunity to get us in shape read for the new season and recruit new players.” 2014-15 “As I said we are in a bit of a transition at the moment, we are building with new players and a new coach but we want to stay at the level we are at currently and aim to finish mid table. We have had a couple of heavy defeats but that doesn’t mean we aren’t still competing at the level. Buckingham Swans will always put up a good fight if teams are going to beat us we won’t make it easy!” 12 ISSUE 49
