Dauphin Area Retired Teachers'

Joyce McGinnis, DARTA President
D
auphin Area Retired Teachers had a “Feel
Good Day” when we were able to help
Whitmore School with their “Fuel Good Day.”
They were one of the schools chosen in Manitoba
by Co-op to receive money from the gas sales at the
Dauphin Co-op Gas Bars during Fuel Good Day.
Ten DARTA members, assisted by players from
the Dauphin Kings hockey team, volunteered to
help run the BBQ part of the fundraiser at the Co-op
Gas Bar. The local elementary school raised $1,475
from the BBQ proceeds. They also received $5,600
from Co-op gas sales for that day. With an additional
$1,000 received from school funds, the total
14 n RTAM KIT Winter 2019
earnings for the day amounted to $8,075. During the
BBQ hours, those in attendance were entertained
by local singer, recording artist and Juno nominee,
Desiree Dorion and also, the D Steppers, a local
youth dance group. A film crew, with a drone as a
part of their equipment, was on site to film the event
for future Co-op promotions.
The money from the BBQ will go towards their
lunch program. The gas sales profits are slated
for soccer nets, basketball nets, swings, and a rock
garden seating area. A very successful day was had
by all!
