Presentation Lantern Center
is a place of welcome offering hospitality, educational opportunities and advocacy to adult immigrants especially women, who are striving to better their lives. A non-profit organization, the center is sponsored by the Sisters of the Presentation, Dubuque, Iowa.
Serving immigrants of the Dubuque area since 2002, Presentation Lantern Center has provided a comfortable place to learn and share stories for over 1,000 newcomers who have journeyed from six continents and 58 countries to make the Dubuque area their home.
Hospitality Education Advocacy
Tutoring in English and developing life skills in a new culture are among the key experiences offered at Presentation Lantern Center. With these tools, new immigrants are better equipped to assist their family, engage in the education of their children, seek employment and participate more fully in community civic life.
Each person who comes to Presentation Lantern Center has a unique story. Often these stories are shared as tutors and students become friends. Throughout the year, we pause to celebrate events in the lives of people at the center. In 14 years, 72 individuals have studied for and passed the U. S. citizenship test.
