This fascinating 5.1km race track provides all the comfort of a modern track : long run-off zones , big gravel traps and multiple configurations . Completed in 1984 , the Grand Prix Track was built in response to the increasing demand for driver safety in high level race events .
The circuit replaced and was constructed partly on top of the old Südschleife (“ Sood-shly-fuh ” / Translation : South Loop ) Race Track , and while the two tracks may have a common start / finish straight , much of the attitude of the original track has been lost . However , what the Nürburgring gained in return is a true , world class FIA circuit .
The track also hosts its share of different events throughout the year - from the Formula One , DTM and Truck Grand Prix , to the Old Timer Classics , Rad am Ring 24h Cycle Race , Rock am Ring Music Festival and the Fisherman ’ s Friend Strongman Run !

Diese faszinierende 5,1 km lange Strecke bietet alle Annehmlichkeiten einer modernen Rennstrecke : großzügige Auslaufzonen , Kiesbetten und über 17 Kurven . Aufgrund der gestiegenen Verantwortung im Bezug auf die Sicherheit bei großen Rennveranstaltungen , wurde 1984 die Grand Prix Strecke fertiggestellt .
Die Strecke ersetzt und übernimmt auch Teile der alten Südschleife und obwohl die beiden Strecken die Start / Ziel Gerade gemeinsam haben , geht auch etwas des alten Flairs verloren . Allerdings hat der Nürburgring hiermit eine Strecke auf Weltklasse FIA- Niveau dazugewonnen .
Auf dieser Strecke werden über das Jahr verschiedene Events veranstaltet – von der DTM und dem Truck Grand Prix bis hin zu den Oldtimer Classics , Rock am Ring Musik Festival und dem Fisherman ’ s Friend Strongman Run !
