Bernie's happy
EVER AFTER
Bernie the Yorkie came to West Hatch
with five other dogs following a raid by
the RSPCA on a puppy farm in Wales.
When she arrived she was scared and
confused - having only ever known life in
a small space with little human contact.
It became obvious quite quickly that she
was pregnant, and desperately needed
somewhere safe and secure to rear her
puppies. Luckily Supervisor Sue Dicks
stepped in and took her home so that
she could have her puppies away from
the stressful environment of kennels.
Bernie flourished in a home and gave birth
to five beautiful pups. She proved to be a
wonderful mum and adored living as part
of a family. Sue has two other dogs - a
Rottweiler and a Bulldog (both rescues
from West Hatch) and they all became firm
friends.
The puppies grew up well socialised and all
found wonderful new homes when the time
was right.
When the dogs were signed over in court
to the RSPCA, Bernie decided she already
had the perfect home and refused to settle
anywhere but with Sue. So her fate was
sealed and she has been having the best
life ever since - which is nothing more
than she deserves.
