Welcome! The Friends Group has gone from strength to strength this year, gaining two new committee members, Diane and Michael, who bring a host of new skills to the team. We will introduce them properly in the next edition. Meanwhile, it is our great pleasure to share with you details of some of the support that your membership funds and other generous donations have allowed us to give to the Centre. The Wildlife Centre has benefited from a selection of new tanks and containers for species as wide-ranging as bats and snakes. We have also funded a ‘deer playpen’ (see later in this newsletter) for orphaned deer, basic supplies such as new hosepipes and weighing scales and a refurb of the mini waterfowl paddock that sees hundreds of ducks and gulls benefit each year. Deer have also seen the benefit of some improvements to the loose boxes with the addition of a soft layer of lining to the walls to prevent injury when they are confined. The Animal Centre got a new set of pig boards to help herd and move pigs around between accommodation and enclosures, vet bed for animals in the surgery recovery room, new trolleys for moving food and bedding around the site, money to make improvements to the dog exercise compounds and a contribution of £15,000 towards the annual animal food and diagnostic tests bills. I am sure you will agree that these are all very worthy causes, but none of it could happen without your help. So from the Friends and the animals – thank you so much for your support. And TH R E WINNE IS... The winner of this year's Amateur Photo Competition was Verity Hill for her adorable picture of a very sleepy Willz! A huge thank you to everyone who participated, we raised a fantastic £362 which will go towards the animals in our care! Photo: Verity Hill
