Far Left: TNNA, USA Opposite: H+H 2018, Cologne, Germany As most of you will already know, each season sees favourite yarns remain and new yarns introduced. These, then are all to be launched to press, retailers and customers. The latest addition to the autumn winter 2018 shadecard, and the newest to be launched this season, is Alpaca Classic in 26 stunning shades. Made of a cotton net filled with superfine alpaca fibres resulting in a soft and light yarn, its fine weight means that it is perfect for both colourwork and texture, and is ideal for Fairisle patterns. However, before you can become privy to these details, the sales team must be briefed. This enables them to correctly present to the retailers, who stock and display the product so that you can browse contentedly and buy with confidence. In addition, Trade Shows play an important part in the seasons launch, too. To keep the brand fresh and up-to-date, the production of a new product is key, and so too is networking within the industry, whilst checking out any possible competition. Not open to the general public, these trade shows allow Rowan to professionally showcase their product, impressing current customers and attracting new ones. The trade shows allow Rowan to influence a worldwide audience, travelling from their cosy offices in Yorkshire to H&H in Cologne, Germany and TNNA in the United States. In the UK they can be found at Stitches. 16 But, of course, you, the all important knitter is not forgotten. Alexander Palace provides the Autumn venue, which stages the important Knitting and Stitching Show in October, each year. Here, at the biggest textile event in the UK, Rowan can display new yarns and designs directly to existing knitters and attract many new ones, too. There’s always so much to interest and involve everyone at ‘Ally Pally’, with hundreds of workshops and demonstrations and, of course, amongst the 300 exhibitors you’ll find your very favourite, Rowan. This year Rowan featured the Rowan Magazine 64, which includes ‘Ruby’ a celebration of Rowan’s 40 th anniversary, and a collection of wonderful designs for Rowan’s brand new yarn, Alpaca Classic, by Lisa Richardson. Whilst designers ARNE & CARLOS revealed their first collection for Rowan in ‘New Nordic’, an apt collection for winter with Nordic and Scandinavian influences crafted in Felted Tweed and Kidsilk Haze. It’s an important date in the Rowan calendar which brings Rowan closer to its knitters and, with all the fabulous yarns on display, our knitters closer to our yarns. If you follow any of Rowan’s social media channels, such as Facebook or Instagram, you’ll be aware that we give you little sneak previews of new and exciting products featured at the launch.
