INTO AFRICA
BY NICHOLAS TUCKER
WHERE TWO COUNTRIES BREATH AS ONE
In the borderlands of Malawi and Zambia, the Transfrontier Conservation Area( TFCA) spreads across more than 30 000 square kilometres of raw, untamed beauty, where conservation, community, and culture meet.
Here, nature moves freely, linking Zambia and Malawi through a shared commitment to Africa’ s wild heart. From sun-drenched woodlands to misty highlands, every turn feels like a rediscovery
Zambia’ s wild soul: North Luangwa National Park
In North Luangwa National Park, wilderness reigns supreme. Once closed entirely to tourists, this sanctuary now opens... carefully, quietly … to those who seek a deeper encounter with the wild.
There are no crowds, only raw wilderness, lion tracks in the dust, elephants drifting through mopane, buffalo rambling across the plains, and flocks of vibrant Carmine bee-eaters gathered on bare branches like shifting brushstrokes of red and turquoise.
The Park’ s signature resident is the rare Cookson’ s wildebeest. Adventurous travellers can explore the rugged Amatololo Loop, camping at wild sites like Lufila Falls and Mushika under star-filled skies.
Conservation here is deeply community-driven. Lodges like Samala Camp and Ituba Camp let travellers support local livelihoods while helping to protect the land.
