Later, I spotted a school of bull sharks – rarely seen from above. The image captures them moving like whispers across the blue. These are the moments you live for as a photographer: seconds that feel eternal, as if everything in nature is holding its breath.
Looking back, I think what stayed with me most wasn’ t just the wildness of Bazaruto, but the abiding sense of coexistence. Conservation here isn’ t an abstract – it’ s lived every day. You can see it in the fishermen repairing their nets with care, in the kids proudly wearing their conservation club t-shirts, and in the quiet pride of the rangers who know that their island – their home – is something worth protecting.
