large party of us decided to go for lunch at the Cape Point Vineyards restaurant in Noordhoek and what an excellent choice it was. The views from the restaurant, overlooking Noordhoek beach, with Chapman's Peak to the right and Kommetjie off to the left in the distance, added to a day that would turn out to be a great dining experience.
Our waitress was highly efficient and her big smile, coupled with her French accent embedded a certain other-worldly feel to our meal.
For starters I had the Beef Carpaccio with Avocado which was made up of thinly sliced beef, topped with fanned avocado, rocket, parmesan shavings and vinaigrette. Others in the party had the Caprese Salad, the Parma Ham and Fresh Fruit, the Warm Goats Cheese Salad and the Bouche de Moules. The Caprese Salad which consisted of slices of buffalo mozzarella, tomato and fresh basil topped with balsamic cream, olive oil garnished with basil pesto and the Bouche de Moules was made up of steamed black mussels served in a pastry case with a saffron cream sauce. The positive comments relating to the starters could be heard clearly above the happy chitchat that permeated this glass-fronted restaurant with majestic panoramic views.
For my main meal I chose the Fresh Grilled Line Fish which was Kingklip and it turned out to be succulent and delicious. The rest of our party enjoyed the Grilled Beef Sirloin with Mushroom & Truffle Sauce, the Scaloppini Con Pollo and the Grilled Sprinbok Loin with Caremalised Honey Sauce. My Fresh Grilled Line Fish was dusted with
cumin and served on sweet potato mash, baby
spinach and mild onion vinaigrette. The Grilled Beef
