Following her Wigmore Hall debut, Israeli-born pianist Sally Pinkas has been heard in recital throughout Europe and the USA, and has toured Nigeria, China and Russia as a member of the Hirsch-Pinkas Piano Duo. Described by Gramophone Magazine as“... an artist who melds lucid textures with subtle expressive detailing, minus hints of bombast or mannerism...”, she has appeared with the Boston Pops, the Aspen Philharmonic, Jupiter Symphony and the Bulgarian Chamber Orchestra. Summer festival credits include Rockport, Marlboro, Tanglewood, Apple Hill and Aspen, as well as Kfar Blum( Israel), Officina Scotese( Italy) and Pontlevoy( France). Pinkas’ solo discography includes works by Debussy( Centaur), Christian Wolff( Mode), Rochberg( Naxos), Fauré( Musica Omnia) and Schumann( MSR). Trained in the USA, Pinkas holds performance degrees from Indiana University and the New England Conservatory of Music, and a Ph. D. in Composition from Brandeis University. She is Pianist-in-residence at the Hopkins Center at Dartmouth College.
Astrid Schween, cello
Astrid Schween is an internationally-recognized soloist and chamber musician. She was a member of the worldrenowned Lark Quartet for twenty years and currently serves as professor of cello at the University of Massachusetts and the Hartt School of Music. She has appeared at some of the world’ s prestigious concert venues, including Carnegie Hall, The Kennedy Center, Library of Congress, Lincoln Center, Lockenhaus, Schleswig-Holstein, Mostly Mozart and Beethoven Festivals. She has appeared at the Marlboro Music Festival, on tour with the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, and performs regularly with the Boston Chamber Music Society.
