ROLAND-STORY COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICT Admission Requirements for Regent Schools: REGENT ADMISSIONS INDEX (RAI) The RAI became effective Fall of 2009. This admissions index replaces the top 50% rule and will encourage students to take more advanced core classes – even if they may not earn a “high” grade in that class. During registration, Ms. Heisterkamp provided this information to each student. The three Iowa Regent Schools (UNI, ISU and UI) have the following Regent Admission Index (RAI): (2 x ACT Composite) + (1 x percentile high school class rank) + (20 x high school GPA) + (5 x # of high school core courses, including foreign language) 245 score = minimum requirements for admission (automatic admissions) Below 245 score = reviewed *All students were given this information during registration in January. These small coupons appear on hundreds of groceries and household products that are in your grocery shopping cart each week. Please save these box tops year round to help purchase needed items for our schools. Box Tops can be given to any elementary or middle school student that you know or dropped off at any of our building offices. Each coupon that you see equals ten cents in cash value when they are redeemed by our district with the help of our PTO group. Please encourage friends, neighbors, co-workers, E-mail correspondents, and grandparents to also save their Box Tops for Education this year. We invite you to set up a collection jar at your office or place of business to help our school collect as many coupons as possible. SunnyD bottle UPC codes are being collected by some elementary staff for the 2014 SunnyD Book Spree. This program made school brighter for over 150,000 students across the country that earned free books for their classrooms. Elementary teacher, Mrs. Phelan received a box with “a lot of really good, ageappropriate books” by sending in 20 UPC labels off of 16 oz. or larger SunnyD bottles collected by students. Since this program is limited while the supplies last, elementary teachers are planning ahead collecting the labels to be ready to participate next August. PTO members have also started programs to collect used/ discarded cell phones and printer ink cartridges to help raise funds. For more details on any of these or other fundraisers call 515-733-4386. Roland-Story staff and students thank you for all your help! 2014 Yearbook Orders Ordering for the 2014 yearbook has begun.
