LORE: MAIN GAUCHE
A short sword (or long dagger) that was
introduced into Europe around the end of
the 15th Century - most likely of Spanish origin - it was an off-hand weapon
(in lieu of a shield) that was primarily
used for duelling.
LORE: SPANISH SWORDS
From the 13th Century through the 19th
Century, swords from Spain were considered among the finest in the World. Notable,
were the swords that were manufactured in
Toledo, Spain, where it is claimed that their
steel is of the finest quality, and it’s where the
Rapier was perfected. These Rapiers were
later popularized by such historical figures
as the French Musketeers, and immortalized
in the book by Alexandre Dumas: The Three
Musketeers.
LORE: GALLEON
This ship was an improvement on the Nao or
Carrack. It could carry more cargo, and it
was more heavily armed - a Spanish Galleon
might have more than 350 cannons aboard.
