Jody Lippmann Theatre Cedar Rapids House Manager 2003 – 2023
For over 20 years ,
Theatre Cedar Rapids has been proud to call Jody Lippmann our House Manager . Behind the scenes , Jody ran a tight ship and she was exceptional at what she did .
You could expect to see her at every performance of every production , standing off to the side in the lobby greeting everyone and keeping watch over our home . On the rare occasion that Jody would not be House Managing and another staff member would step in , all night long we would field questions about what she was doing because she was missed . You wanted to get a chance to speak with her , because getting to interact with Jody was like spending time with your best friend .
Since Jody ’ s passing , countless numbers of you have shared your memories and grief with us . You are stunned . This is impossible . But what we ’ ve also heard is that so many of you had such beautiful relationships with Jody . She was silly and always happy to chat with you – and what ’ s more – every time you came back , she remembered you . When you came into our building and into her life , you felt like one of the most important people here . That is Jody ’ s legacy .
For those of you who didn ' t know Jody for long , or had maybe just met her once , we promise you , she only got better and better . We can hear her laugh echo through the lobby and feel her joy in every space at TCR , but we miss her . We miss her more than we ever knew we could miss a person . Jody was Theatre Cedar Rapids , and we loved her .
To imagine our future without Jody is something we have not reconciled with yet . However , we know you deserve to feel just as welcomed and loved as Jody made you feel . Every step of the way , Jody ’ s impact will be our compass . We mourn the loss of an amazing person together . And we will celebrate her every chance we get .
