Delaugère et Clayette In 1904 , Maurice Clayette joined the company of Delaugère , who were a long-standing family of carriage and wagon makers . The founder ’ s son and a great-nephew had built a three-wheeled car in 1898 , and a four-wheeled one in 1900 . This used a De Dion engine , but by 1901 Delaugère built its own twocylinder engines , and , by 1902 , four-cylinder engines . The cars were along Panhard lines , with automatic inlet valves and double chain drive . The 20hp fourcylinder cars had a four-speed gearbox . This was the time when SA des Ets Delaugère became E et F Delaugère et M Clayette . The final title Delaugère , Clayette et Cie came in 1906 .
Delin M Delin developed a successful bicycle manufacturing operation , which led to the production of a motorcar in 1899 . This was shown at the Brussels Exposition of 1899 , and had a flat-twin engine . In 1900 , he exhibited a light voiturette and various models followed , culminating in a four-seater tonneau with 8hp engine . However , M Delin could not compete with the market at large , and the company closed in 1902 . A certain M Mathieu took over some of the machinery and made cars up to 1904 .
Dennis Dennis Brothers Ltd , Guildford , England from 1899 to 1915 . In 1899 , it built a De Dion-engined tricycle , just for show . By 1904 , the famous overhead worm drive was adopted .
