The Golden Gate Bridge, a symbol of
San Francisco, officially opened on May
27, 1937, the longest bridge span in the
world at the time. Built during the Great
Depression completely with private
funding, it’s the most photographed bridge
in the world. The bridge is painted in
International Orange, a hue developed
specifically for the bridge.
