ONLINE STORE VS PHYSICAL STORE
Working as an online only retailer has many advantages as well as disadvantages. I have chosen to compare Net-a-Porter and Zara. Firstly by working as an online retailer your amount of staff will be less than it would if it had stores, because roles such as store managers, customer assistants and personal shoppers and many more. Due to Net-a-Porter being an online retailer the way they communicate with their audience is trough email to promote offers which are currently happening also they advertise on the side of black cabs because they are a luxourious brand. In addition to this they do a service which is if ordered and delivery is to London the products can be delievered that day and also they will deliver the products to yatch's, this is a USP for Net-a-Porter. By working as an online retailer Net-a-Porter has been able to save money by not having to purchase buildings for stores and then to relevate them, however by not having stores the store doesn't get as much recognition beacuse they don't have passing footfall who could just walk past and go in. By working online only have to keep an extremely good customer service 24/7 because it is the only service that the customer will recieve. Net-a-Porter sells luxury products for a premium price for their service deliveries from Net-a-Porter are delivered and wrapped in a way which a customer will be satisfied by. By doing this Net-a-Porter have to rely on word of mouth and loyal customers because they don't really advertise as much as other retailers due to it being a well known and established retailer. Although paying for a building for the store has major costs the business does need to pay for the website and by working online only hours maybe longer for certain people in certain roles, by satisfying the customers you will gain their trust. By working online it helps people who are unable to physically get out and shop. Finally by only selling online would mean more stock is avaliable because it doesn't have to be distributed to each store, t will all be in one place ready to be distributed to the customer. Working online I believe decreases the amount of unhappy customers. And I would say it is a safer way to have a business.
