Sadie: Our lacrosse team volunteered at Feed My Starving Children, and I truly loved being part of it. It was a fun experience, but also really meaningful. Knowing that the food bags we packed were going to help people in need made it feel even more rewarding.
Veronica: I’ ve helped out with Puzzle Palooza, events at my church, and I’ ve helped my
coach Nygaard with her summer school kids.
What are your plans after high school and future career aspirations?
Arya: I want to go to college and major in criminology so I can be a detective and minor in creative writing so I can hopefully write my own book one day.
Avarie: I don’ t know exactly, but I plan on going to college. I might be interested in English or the film industry.
Ella: I’ m not entirely sure, but I’ m leaning toward elementary education.
Lily: I’ m hoping to attend college after high school. As a
future career, I hope to work with children, either as a teacher or with child protective services.
Ruby: My plans after high school are to go to a four-year college to study biology and then hopefully be able to apply to medical school to pursue a career in pediatric medicine.
Sadie: After high school, I plan to go to a four-year college. My dream school is NYU because of their amazing writing program. I want to major in journalism and minor in psychiatry. My goal is to become a journalist for a newspaper or magazine, but I’ m also interested in psychiatry because I want to help people and make a difference in their lives.
Veronica: After high school I plan to go to college, I’ m not sure where, and continue on the path to being a nurse.
Who is your role model?
Arya: My role model is my mother, because I’ ve always looked up to her ever since I was a little girl and she’ s always been there for me and supportive of whatever I do. She is so hard-working and confident and I aspire to be like her one day.
Avarie: My dad. He seems like such a big, scary person, but he’ s a total sweetheart. He’ s taken me to more hockey games than I can count, and he always has such a kind spirit.
Ella: My brother is my role model because he’ s shown me
the importance of practicing and working hard on the things you enjoy doing. He played the flute, so I gave it a try, and I’ m so happy I did.
Lily: My role model is my grandpa, Don Anderson. He taught us that just because your life turns in a direction you didn’ t plan, there is always something positive to look forward to.
Ruby: My role model is my mom because she has taught me a lot of valuable life lessons like how to treat others with respect and kindness and has shaped me into the person I am today.
Sadie: My mom inspires me the most. She’ s done so much for me and always puts others first. She’ s loving, kind and caring, and her strength and selflessness motivate me every day. She’ s made me who I am today with her kind words and her attitude of,“ If it’ s meant to be, it will be.” She’ s taught me to live in the moment and to always cherish the things life gives you.
Veronica: My role model is my dad. We’ ve had our ups and downs but through it all he’ s been there. My dad reminds me to always be kind to others and work as hard as I can. He’ s listened and helped when I’ ve had a bad race in track, struggled in school, had drama with friends, and even just bad days. He’ ll always be the person I go to first when I need to talk. I really can’ t thank him and my whole family enough for being there for me.
