Q & A: Seven girls are vying to be crowned as Royal Ambassadors
Why did you decide to run as a Monticello Royal Ambassador candidate?
Arya: I’ ve been to Riverfest every year since I was little and always thought it’ d be fun to run for royalty, especially after my cousin did it.
Avarie: I was encouraged by some former ambassadors, who told me that I would have a blast. Also, some of my friends from school joined the program, so I knew that I wouldn’ t be alone.
Ella: My friend suggested it, so I looked into it. I wanted to help out in my community, along with making connections with new people.
Lily: When I saw all of the ambassadors on floats at the parades, I thought they were doing so much for the community and they looked so perfect while doing it. I thought that, because of the way I looked, I couldn’ t, but I figured that when I was older that I could look just like them when being myself even if I had the crown on or off. So I’ m very grateful for this experience.
Ruby: I decided to run as a candidate because I enjoy spending time in the community and I thought that this would be a good opportunity to improve my public speaking while being involved in town events.
Sadie: I decided to join the program because I wanted to represent my school and town in a meaningful way. I’ ve always believed in the importance of community and being involved, and It’ s also a great opportunity to connect with others.
Veronica: I thought it would be a great opportunity to be active in my community and meet new people.
Why do you think you would make a good Royal Ambassador?
Arya: I’ ve lived in Monticello my whole life, I’ m involved in a lot of activities( track, cross country, 4-H, acting), I’ m a camp counselor, I’ m an Wright county ambassador for 4-H.
Avarie: I am a very genuine and loving person. I could make any incoming candidate feel welcomed and cared for. I am also a hardworking person and I would always try to do what I’ m asked with a full effort.
Ella: I enjoy working in the community and connecting with new people. I like helping people and taking part in my community.
Lily: I’ m a caring, thoughtful and understanding person, and I believe those are some of the key aspects to help represent a community.
Ruby: I love spending time
in Monticello and being able to give back by volunteering is what makes me the happiest. With these two things combined I think I would represent the town in a positive light.
Sadie: I’ m responsible, I work well with others, and I genuinely care about representing my school and community in a positive way.
Veronica: I would be a good Ambassador because I love our town. I have so many memories growing up going to all the Riverfest and town events. Monticello will always be home to me, and I’ m so excited to help out with all the events we put on!
What is your favorite Riverfest event or activity?
Arya: My favorite part since I was a kid has always probably been the parade or Art in the Park.
Avarie: I love basically everything about Riverfest. I’ d say my top three events are Art in the Park, the parade and the talent show.
Ella: My favorite event is Art in the Park because I would always go with my family.
Lily: My all-time favorite Riverfest event is the street dance because it holds a lot memories and fun times.
Ruby: My favorite Riverfest event is Family Fun Night at Pioneer Park because I have been going with my family since I was born and I love being able to spend that time with my family. That night has such a special place in my heart.
Sadie: My favorite event at the festival is the car show because I really enjoy vintage cars and the sense of nostalgia they bring. It’ s fun to see how much history and personality each car has.
Veronica: I’ ve always loved Art in the Park and car show.
Good Luck
