Q. 3. Do any of your members own bead shops or offer their beaded work/patterns for sale? A. 3. We have five members who own bead stores and we promote shopping at these stores in every way. We encourage the store owners to come and demonstrate for us and let us know about what they are promoting that month in the store. We also promote the shops in our newsletter for all our members to see. Q. 4. What is the mission of your bead society? A. 4. The Bead Society of the Palm Beaches mission statement is to inspire and nurture creative expression in a non-competitive atmosphere. We will bring together a diverse group of people from far and wide who can exchange ideas, share techniques and encourage talents in stringing, bead weaving, wire, polymer clay and looming. We want to provide the community with an educational resource in the art, history and cultural significance of beads and beading. .....So you are probably wondering what inspired us????....... The society was formed by a group of fabulous women (who just so happened to be beaders) in 2014 out of a need to build a sense of togetherness among those who have a passion for beading. We invite you to come and share your enthusiasm, talent and creativity. We will both be glad you did. This is right from our bylaws and is also on our website at www.beadsocietyofthepalmbeaches.com Q. 5. In your opinion, what makes your bead society different from others? A. 5. I honestly have never been a part of a bead society before but I know all of our members are wonderful and amazingly talented. Our board members are all very eager and hard working and with the two groups combined we have formed a beautiful Bead Society with many many talented women and men. Q. 6. Does your bead society offer any classes or instruction for members who might be new to the art of beading? A. 6. We also offer new beaders any help they need. We have a member that focuses on helping out at each meeting and the local shops that we are involved with offer discounts on classes for new beaders...It's our goal to bring beading and making jewelry a popular and fun past time again because I think the hobby has been on the decline lately....We are determined to bring it back. Q. 7. What can a new member expect when they join? A. 7. As a new member you can expect to be amazed at all the talent you will be privy too. Our members do everything from stringing, polymer, fused glass and of course bead weaving. You will have your pick at anything RitzyToo.com | RitzyToo! |October-November | 25
