Manager helps you organize your inventory and accurately price your jewelry.
Inventory
Keeping track of inventory can be very tedious and overwhelming for any business owner –
especially a jewelry designer. There are many important reasons to keep track of inventory
which consists of both part and finished piece inventory.
You need to keep track of part inventory so that you know what is in stock for making jewelry
and which parts are low or out-of-stock and need to be re-ordered. Not having enough parts
on hand to make your jewelry can be frustrating and cause you to lose customers and sales. It
is very helpful to have vendor item/style numbers and contact information to make this task
simple.
One of my biggest fears as a jewelry designer was not being able to remember where I
purchased my parts or having enough information to reorder. Did I buy the clasps in Tucson or
at a local gem show or from Rio Grande? Some vendors would ask me to send a sample of
what I needed. What a hassle! Imagine landing a big wholesale order but not being able to
reproduce the designs because you cannot find the parts that were used? Not very
professional!
You also need to know how many finished jewelry pieces are available for sale or consignment
at any time but especially before a trade or trunk show. Bringing your best selling pieces and
having a range of styles and price points can make or break a show. And of course, after the
show you will want to know which items were sold so that you can replenish your inventory and
keep track of sales.
It is also helpful to be able to create line sheets, price lists and invoices with pictures of your
jewelry. Even if you do not have items in stock you can show customers your collection and
take custom orders. Great customer service!
