LAKEVIEW BANK SPOTLIGHT Keeping It Local: FROM LAKEVILLE TO LAKEVIEW L akeview Bank opened for business on July 8, 2004, as a commercial bank with a fundamental driving desire: to serve the financial needs of the residents in the communities it serves and to improve the quality of life in those communities. Lakeville, like virtually any area in the United States, has its fair share of banks. Those banks have agendas all their own, but few (if any) of them are entirely devoted to the Lakeville community in the way that Lakeview is. Since Lakeview first opened its doors, the United States has gone through many economic ups and downs, including one of the worst economic stretches in history. The effects of the 4 Great Recession were felt by businesses throughout market sectors, but it had an especially large impact on new and independent businesses. The fact that the bank began in 2004 and still managed to survive—even through the significant hardship of the Great Recession only a few years after the business opened—is a testament to the determination and tenacity of not only the Board of Directors and Lakeview staff but also the Lakeville community at large. The experience and lessons learned during those years may have come at a painful cost, but they are also what helped make Lakeview Bank what it is today: a profitable and growing asset to the community. The Lakeview Bank Board of Directors is composed of people who live and work in the area. Keeping the roots localized allows the vision and leadership of the bank to keep the best interests of the community in mind. Additionally, at the insistence of the Board, the bank is primarily managed and staffed by local banking professionals who also live in the area. With local roots, local staffing, and a call to help the community, the difference between Lakeview Bank and other banks is noticeable, particularly when compared with some of the larger national banks that service the area.
