The world has changed quite a bit since the last issue of Risk
& Business magazine a few months ago, and a lot of changes
and uncertainty are yet to come. As businesses start looking
to reopen in a COVID-19 world over the coming weeks,
things will be much different than they once were.
Each industry has been and will be impacted differently.
Some lucky businesses have seen increased demand.
But most have experienced a negative impact, and some
businesses will be faced with the decision of whether or not to close permanently.
These are difficult times, and all businesses are going to have to make adjustments in
order to continue operating. Not all businesses will need to make physical changes to
building layouts in order to protect employees and customers, but all businesses need
to ensure response plans are in place and employees are educated on observing rules
around hygiene, sanitation, and social distancing.
Many companies now have a majority of their employees working from home. A
surprising number of these companies have found that their businesses can be
conducted effectively with a remote workforce. This will certainly have an impact
on future investments in office space and technology. However, there will always be
a need for face-to-face interactions for people to effectively connect with customers
and fellow employees, so eventually, we’ll need to find a way to make that a reality in
the future.
Specific to the insurance industry, a lot of questions are being asked about coverage
under workers’ compensation, business interruption, employer liability, and health
insurance plans. In these unprecedented times, it is important for businesses to work
with their agents to understand what their insurance program entails, what may
or may not be covered by insurance, and what steps companies should be taking to
manage risk and limit liabilities.
With each issue of Risk & Business magazine, we try to cover at least one line of
insurance in a little more detail to help businesses better understand the world of
insurance and to determine if a certain type of insurance might be necessary for
their specific business or industry. We appreciate the opportunity to share this
valuable information with you. If you’d like more information on any of the topics
or businesses featured in this issue, we would love to hear from you. You can provide
us with feedback by sending any inquiries or comments to [email protected].
Thank you.
Sincerely,
WELCOME
