COMMUNITY FEATURE Community Feature W ith having 14 offices located across Southwestern Ontario, McFarlan Rowlands always keeps active within our communities we live in. Having the weather on our side, we have been able to participate in several fundraisers, golf tournaments and road races. and management around the clock, while the team of camp councillors provide fun activities for the kids. These healthcare professionals volunteer their time to be at these camps with the children. Proceeds of the Flame of Hope Golf Tournament go towards sending 10 local children to D-Camp. At $2,000 per child, per week, these camps can be rather expensive. + MCFARLAN ROWLANDS INGERSOLL BARBEQUE FUNDRAISER On June 17th, the Ingersoll office of McFarlan Rowlands hosted a fundraising barbeque for Andrew’s Legacy. Hot dogs were served with cool drinks and music was provided by 104.7 Heart FM. Oxford County EMS was also on hand to teach people how to use an AED (Automated External Defibrillator). Andrew’s Legacy was created after the death of Andrew Stoddart who was playing soccer at a public field at the time. Since the creation of Andrew’s Legacy, they have held fundraisers in his memory to raise money to go to towards buying AEDs for local sports fields. FLAME OF HOPE GOLF TOURNAMENT McFarlan Rowlands was delighted to have been a sponsor of the Flame of Hope Golf Tournament that took place at Oxbow Glen in Komoka on September 22. Kids who live with diabetes should be able to enjoy the fun of going to camps and being around other kids without worrying about their illness. That is where Camp Discover comes in. Camp Discovery is a D-Camp which is provided by the Canadian Diabetes Association. The camp is run by a team of healthcare professionals and dedicated camp councillors.
