WELCOME FRIENDS AND VALUED CLIENTS OF JGS INSURANCE , A BALDWIN RISK PARTNER

Happy New Year ! The cold season is upon us , so please accept this warm welcome to the winter 2024 edition of JGS Risk & Business Magazine , your source for insightful and informative business-related articles and advice . This issue , we explore healthcare for your team , the SEC ’ s new cybersecurity rules , how to safely manage electric bikes and scooters in your community , automated guided vehicles ( AGVs ) in the workplace , and more .

On page 14 , Shaun Stanton addresses the national increase in healthcare costs and evaluates whether or not you should cut costs to supplement your healthcare programs . Along the way , he highlights the benefits of working with a JGS advisor on a benefits solution tailored just for your company .
On page 13 , Russell Uhrig looks at the SEC ’ s new cybersecurity rules , effective December 2023 , aimed at enhancing the transparency and reporting of cybersecurity risks for public companies . One of the most significant aspects of the new rules is that public companies must now report material cybersecurity incidents within four business days of identifying them . In addition , cybersecurity risk management and governance practices must now be disclosed . While the new rules primarily target publicly listed companies , their implications are not limited to them .
On page 15 , David Velasco makes recommendations for the safe management of scooters and electric bikes in your community . Although there are no insurance regulations yet in place for these vehicles , you can be proactive in their management by doing things like designating a charging area , introducing registration requirements , enforcing a unit charging limit , implementing fire safety measures , having charging stations professionally installed , and , of course , talking to your JGS advisor . If someone you know rides an e-bike or scooter , kindly remind them to outfit their home with an accessible fire extinguisher if they don ’ t already have one and encourage them to keep walkways clear by using designated charging stations wherever possible .
On page 4 , Eric Wokas talks about automated guided vehicles , now known commonly as AGVs , and how they are being embraced in the workplace . He looks at the four main types of AGVs , addresses some limitations — such as their inability to move around obstacles — and provides some guidelines for integrating the vehicles into your workforce . This is a good read for anyone who is interested in working with AGVs but who may be concerned for the safety of their employees .
Also in this issue , Gwen Luu teaches you how to read an experience modification worksheet , the most important document for anyone with workers ’ compensation insurance , and Nick D ' Onofrio unveils the open , interconnected , customercentric , and forward-thinking future of insurance .
I ’ ll leave it there so you can go ahead and immerse yourself in all this winter edition has to offer . As always , we look forward to hearing your feedback . +
