EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE
5
REASONS
EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE
IS IMPORTANT
I
f you are a Philadelphia Eagles fan you
know that when Jeffrey Lurie replaced
Chip Kelly with Doug Pederson he was
looking for someone with Emotional
Intelligence. At the time he declared he
was looking for this specific trait, I didn’t
understand what it meant or how it would
benefit his team. Now I understand and
here are five reasons I learned why it is so
important in the workplace:
TO ENHANCE PERSONAL RELATIONSHIPS
Emotional intelligence is absolutely an
essential part of developing, forming,
enhancing and maintaining personal
relationships with other people. It is
undeniable that people who know the right
methods to build up a positive relationship
with others can achieve more success in
the workplace. Workers with a higher level
of emotional intelligence can work more
harmoniously in teams and can adjust to
changes better.
TO HANDLE CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM
Being aware of oneself means you are able
to handle constructive criticism. No one
in this world is perfect, and we need other
people’s feedback to do better. A high level
of emotional intelligence allows you to take
criticism as an opportunity to develop and
grow.

SELF-MOTIVATED PEOPLE CAN INSPIRE
OTHERS
If you are self-motivated, you can inspire
others around you and better evaluate your
own level of motivation. Self-motivated
persons are always optimistic and driven
only by what matters to them.
IT MAKES THE WORLD GENUINE
People with high levels of emotional
intelligence have compassion, which allows
them to connect with others. If a person is
capable of empathizing with others, then
that person will be able to work better with
others.
IT GIVES THE POWER TO CONTROL
DIFFERENT SITUATIONS
Having good emotional intelligence means
a person is able to control themselves in
different situations. Emotional intelligence
gives a person enough control to balance
both negative and positive situations
tactfully. Self-control is the best way to face
different situations in the workplace.
