LET’S TAKE A SWING AT CANCER Once again, we are pleased to co-sponsor and promote the upcoming 14th Annual “Let’s take a Swing at Cancer” Golf Tournament being held on June 8th, 2017 at the Stonebridge Golf Course. This year’s tournament is brought to you by Ed Hansen, Hansen Lawn and Gardens Inc., Steve Lacroix of A. Lacroix Heavy Equipment Rentals, Duane Francis of Mandeville Private Client Inc., Pro Printers and Gifford Associates Insurance Brokers. The ultimate goal of the “Let’s Take a Swing at Cancer” Golf Tournament is to raise funds in support of the ongoing and outstanding work of The Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation. Over the past 13 years this event has been able to raise over $240,000 in funds. This ambitious objective was established in memory of Ed’s father, Mr. Herman Hansen. The spirit of this tournament is built on the supportive community to assist everyone going through, and in need of Cancer support. The Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation exists to heighten awareness and raise funds for breakthrough cancer research and exemplary patient care. The monies raised from this important event remain local and further enhance the research and quality of care being extended to those affected by this disease and their families. Together we can make a difference!!! takeaswingatcancer.com ERIN O’NEIL & KATE O’HARA Our business is built on the quality of the people working in it. When that is the case there will be ups and downs... We are very happy to announce the return of Erin O’Neil to Gifford Associates and Carr & Company. Erin worked in our west end office 13 years ago and is now returning after working at her family’s brokerage in the Renfrew area. She brings with her 22 years of insurance experience and we like to say that she is coming back home. But we are also very sad to announce that Kate O’Hara has decided to retire. After 32 wonderful years in the insurance industry – as an underwriter, insurance broker, CIP and RIBO course instructor and Insurance Institute board member – Kate will be leaving the industry and our office on April 14th, 2017. She has made many friends during her time in the industry, particularly the gang who welcomed her to Gifford four years ago. Kate says, “It’s been interesting - and educational to say the least – to have seen the changes in the business since I started as an underwriting assistant many years ago. I have learned how important it is to be adaptable and to embrace change and to remember that this can still be a people business. And that you can’t ever stop learning...” We want to wish Erin and Kate all the best in their new endeavours. The “ups” of a new start for both – the continuation of an already great career with Erin’s arrival and of course the recognition of losing a great employee and professional in Kate as she takes a long deserved rest from a rewarding and successful career. 6
