O
Better Safe Than Sorry!
ne thing I always taught my own
kids when they began driving was
never to pass farm machinery where
there is a field entrance or intersection
upcoming on the left-hand side, as
you never know if the farmer might
be turning. Pass when there is no
opportunity for the farmer to make a lefthand turn.
Slow down well in advance and give farm
equipment lots of room. Farm machinery
is getting bigger all the time – drivers
please be patient!
Farmers – you’ve been working all day
and your eyes are accustomed to the
changes in natural light when dusk
descends. You may think that you are
still very visible, but to drivers coming
up behind you, you may not be as
visible as you think. Always use proper
lighting and reflective tape, especially on
implements in tow. Be seen, be safe.
