FEATURE STORY: JAKE ALLEN

“ I think that’ s similar to investing in yourself in business. There are always little details that you invest in yourself to achieve those goals.” miss dearly.”

It’ s been some time since Murph Allen left the world of insurance. He retired at sixty-two, which he looks back on as“ much too early.” Although every grandfather doesn’ t have a grandson in the NHL, Murph sounds like every grandfather when he talks about Jake.
“ I’ m prejudiced, of course, but he’ s an awfully nice young man. He’ s very modest. If he has a good game and you try to tell him he had a good game, he’ ll give credit to somebody else. He’ s a great community citizen. And he doesn’ t know how to say no,” said Murph.“ I watch all his games and even if they go well, I’ m nervous. I don’ t think I am, but I obviously am because I take quite a while to go to sleep afterward.”
Allen, twenty-six and on the other end of professional life from his grandfather, only hopes that he can emulate the examples his grandfather has set for him.
“ He’ s very appreciative of others and what they do for him. I think that’ s something that he taught his kids, my father and my aunt, and they preach the same qualities,” said Jake.“ Be very thankful of what others give you, be honest, and show your appreciation for others.” +
