HOCKEY HELPS THE
HOMELESS
Hockey Helps the Homeless is a national
charity that coordinates a one-day fantasy
hockey tournament in communities across
Canada. Men and women play hockey
with former NHL pros and Olympic gold
medalists. Benson Kearley IFG was a
sponsor of the 2017 event, with both a
men’s and women’s team competing in the
tournament. Our men’s team took home
the trophy, and the one-day tournament
raised over $160,000 to help support
homeless youth from 360 0 Kids.

HOME FOR HOLIDAYS
This year Benson Kearley IFG was able to reunite two families with our annual Home for
Holidays Contest.
MCDOUGALL FAMILY
After Petra settled down to start a family
in Alberta, the long distance made it
difficult to share quality time together
with siblings and cousins back in Ontario—
especially after Petra’s 3-year-old daughter
was diagnosed with a brain tumour.
Thankfully the tumour was removed
successfully, although health remains an
ongoing source of concern. This Christmas
season, the family received the miracle of
good health but longed to find a way to
spend the holidays together.
MILLICAN FAMILY
Motivated by the desire to volunteer his
time and help vulnerable people in need,
Geoff packed his bags and moved to Los
Angeles. Since then, he has spent time
providing food and water to one of the
largest homeless neighbourhoods in the
United States. However, finances were
too tight to allow Geoff to fly home for
Christmas to visit his family and his aging
grandparents. With some help from Home
for Holidays, Geoff was able to spend
Christmas with his family.
If you or someone you know is unable to spend the holidays with family because of
finances, visit homeforholidays.ca to share your story. We will be reuniting families in
2018 and look forward to hearing from you!
