WHAT TO EXPECT IN THE FUTURE

In the long run, sea-level rise is one of the more serious consequence of global warming. Predicting a rise in sea level is an inexact science because there are many variables to consider; however, a recent study says we can expect the oceans to rise anywhere between 2.5 and 6.5 feet by 2100 (8). Although this sounds like not that big of a change in height, minuscule changes like this can affect coastal ecosystems greatly. A slight rise in sea level can cause flooding, erosions, and water pollution (5). It can be expected that people living near coasts or on islands will have to relocate, biodiversity will decrease along coasts due to loss of habitat and food resources(3).
