CHANDLER BENN MARULLO AND A COURT USHER
SAMUEL WEISER COUNT CEPRANO
Baritone, Chandler Benn joined The Cafritz Young Artists of Washington National Opera for his first season in 2025- 26. Where he performed The Pilot in The Little Prince, Thomas Putnam in The Crucible, and Antonio in Le nozze di Figaro. Chandler recently performed Joe Kavalier in The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay in the world premiere co-production between the Metropolitan Opera and the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. He has also performed the titular role in Don Giovanni, as well as Le nozze di Figaro, Danilo Danilovich in The Merry Widow, Bob in The Old Maid and the Thief, and Frank in Die Fledermaus. Chandler has also debuted workshop performances of Count di Luna( Il Trovatore), Macbeth( Macbeth), Giorgio Germont( La traviata), Silvio( Pagliacci), and Alfonse( La favorite). Chandler’ s concert work includes Johannes Brahms’ Ein deutsches Requiem.
Bass-baritone Samuel Weiser is praised for his“ stentonian bass” voice and ability to create“ fully formed” characters due to an“ acutely sensitive artistic compass”( Washington Classical Review, New Outpost). In the 2024-25 season, Mr. Weiser performed Wurm in Luisa Miller with Washington Concert Opera, and returned to the Metropolitan Opera covering the role of Kill Chain: Safety Observer in Grounded, whose workshop he participated in with Washington National Opera. He also made a role debut as Leporello in Don Giovanni with Livermore Valley Opera, which he reprised this season with Annapolis Opera, and made his Gulfshore Opera debut as Raimondo in Lucia di Lammermoor. This season, he sang as Don Alfonso in Lucrezia Borgia with Baltimore Opera. In the 2026-27 season, Mr. Weiser will sing as Dottore Grenvil in a concert version of La traviata with Helena Symphony, and Count Ceprano in Rigoletto with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra.
Mr. Weiser made his debut with the Metropolitan Opera in 2022 as Flemish Deputy 4 in Don Carlo, and since then has portrayed Count Ribbing in Un ballo in maschera and covered Prison Guard 1 in Dead Man Walking, Waiter 4 in Der Rosenkavalier, and Gretch in Giordano’ s Fedora. Other recent roles include the Clerk, Doctor, and Con-Man in The Nose at Chicago Opera Theater and Prince Gremin in Eugene Onegin with Opera Baltimore.
Mr. Weiser has also sung with the Washington National Opera, recently performing as Benoit / Alcindoro in La bohème in 2023. A graduate of the Cafritz Young Artist program, he has performed several roles with the company, notably in the“ amusing” title role of the world premiere of Nicolas Benavides and Marella Martin Koch’ s Pepito( Opera News).
