American tenor Andrew Owens has quickly built a reputation as a promising singer of his generation, exhibiting a beautiful Italianate timbre, soaring top notes, and effortless agility.
In the 2025-26 season, Andrew Owens continues in the ensemble of Opernhaus Zürich, singing Alfred in a new production of Die Fledermaus, Dorvil in La scala di seta, and Jacquino in Fidelio. In concert, he sings Shanty in Paul McCartney’ s Liverpool Oratorio with the Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte-Carlo. As part of the Opernhaus Zürich ensemble, where he has been a member since 2021, Andrew Owens has performed Camille in Die lustige Witwe, Gualtiero in Il pirata, Arturo in Lucia di Lammermoor, Lord Cecil and the cover of the title role in Roberto Devereux, Max in the world-premiere of Jonathan Dove’ s In 80 Tagen um die Welt, Beppe in I Pagliacci, and Telémachos in Evers’ Die Odyssee, Guglielmo in Viva la mamma, Pylade in Iphigenie en Tauride, Xaïloum in Barkouf, Brighella in Ariadne auf Naxos, and Jacquino in Fidelio, among others.
Mr. Owens is a native of Bucks County, Pennsylvania and resides in Zürich.
Hakeem Henderson is a versatile performer whose repertoire spans from Classical to contemporary works. His stage credits include roles such as Andy( Treemonisha), Don Curzio( Le nozze di Figaro), Fortunato( The Cask of Amontillado), Rapunzel’ s Prince( Into the Woods), and Big Deal in the 2019 Edinburgh International Festival production of West Side Story.
Henderson’ s concert appearances include performances of Dubois’ Seven Last Words of Christ, Dvořák’ s Stabat Mater, Vaughan Williams’ Serenade to Music, and Saint- Saëns’ Christmas Oratorio. Most recently, he appeared as the tenor soloist in Beethoven’ s Ninth Symphony with the New Orchestra of Washington, representing the Denyce Graves Foundation.
Henderson earned a Bachelor’ s degree in Vocal Performance from Morgan State University and a Master’ s degree from the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, U. K. He has trained in esteemed programs such as the Gerdine Young Artist Program at Opera Theatre of Saint Louis and the Daniel Ferro Vocal Program in Greve, Italy.
Beyond Classical music, Henderson is also a writer, producer, and performer of original popular music. His work has been featured on Spike Lee’ s She’ s Gotta Have It and BBC Music Introducing in Manchester.
He is currently a part of the Cafritz Young Artist Program at Washington National Opera and a Brand Ambassador for the Denyce Graves Foundation.
